Storey Agency

Building a brand starts with building belief. Storey Agency wasn't designed to follow trends. It was built from the ground up to define a business before it even had clients.

Storey Agency is a brand and creative agency built to help ambitious businesses develop identities that are memorable, strategic and commercially effective. More than just a marketing website, it became the foundation the entire business was built around. Defining its personality, positioning, messaging and online presence from day one. I designed and developed the website completely from scratch, creating a digital experience that reflected the agency's confidence, creativity and attention to detail while providing a platform that could grow alongside the business.

"Alex was a joy to work with from start to finish. He really took the time to understand, not just the brief, but who we are as people and as a brand, and translated that brilliantly into a website that feels completely ‘us’. He was diligent, patient and collaborative throughout the project, taking regular check-ins and amends in his stride (even when we changed direction halfway through - sorry again, Alex!) The end result is a website that looks fantastic, works seamlessly and represents our brand perfectly. Couldn’t recommend him more highly."

The Problem

Launching a new agency without an established reputation presents a unique challenge. Before there are case studies, testimonials or a proven track record, the brand itself has to create trust.

The website needed to communicate credibility from the very first interaction. It wasn't simply about showcasing services. It had to establish a distinctive identity, tell the agency's story and convince potential clients they were dealing with a professional, capable business.

Every design decision had to support that first impression while laying the groundwork for the agency's future growth.

The Project Goals

  • Design a distinctive brand experience that immediately communicates quality and professionalism.
  • Create a fully custom website from the ground up with no reliance on templates.
  • Build a scalable foundation that could evolve as the agency expanded its portfolio and services.
  • Establish clear messaging that reflects the agency's values and positioning.
  • Deliver a fast, responsive and accessible experience across all devices.
  • Create a website that doesn't just represent the business, but becomes the business's strongest sales tool.

The Process

Every project starts with understanding the problem before designing a solution. I use the Double Diamond design process as a guide because it keeps the work focused on real user needs while ensuring the final product meets business goals.

Why This Process Matters

Following a structured design process helps reduce guesswork, keeps projects aligned with business goals, and ensures every design decision has a purpose.

It also creates better communication throughout the project, giving clients visibility into each stage and confidence that we're solving the right problem before investing time in the final design.

Conclusion

This project was about far more than building a website. It was about creating the digital foundation of an entirely new company.

From branding and user experience to interface design and development, every element was crafted to give Storey Agency a strong launch and a clear identity in a competitive market. The result is a website that feels confident, intentional and built to grow, serving as both the face of the brand and the platform the business was built upon.

Reflection & Take-Away

This project reinforced that a website is often much more than a digital presence. It can be the foundation of an entire business. Without an existing reputation or portfolio to rely on, every aspect of the experience had to build trust, communicate professionalism and clearly define what Storey Agency stood for.

Designing and developing the site from scratch gave me complete control over the user experience, allowing every interaction, layout and detail to support the agency's identity. It also highlighted the value of thinking beyond aesthetics; strong design is most effective when it's backed by clear strategy, purposeful messaging and a seamless user experience.

The biggest takeaway from this project was the importance of building with longevity in mind. Rather than creating a website that simply looked good on launch day, I focused on creating a flexible foundation that could evolve alongside the business as it grows. That's an approach I continue to bring to every project, creating digital experiences that don't just impress today, but continue to deliver value well into the future.
